The University of Texas at Austin has announced that a massive movie poster collection housed at the Harry Ransom Center is being digitized and is made available online.
The archive numbers about 10,000 pieces in total. Four thousand of them have already been photographed and cataloged and will be added to the website in the coming months. At the moment, 500 posters are viewable online.
The posters come in every size, from window cards to 24-sheets.
The largest part of the archive comes from the Interstate Theatre Circuit Collection. The Interstate Circuit was one of the most significant Texas exhibition chains, with over 150 theaters in Texas by the mid-1940s.
